Spring Staff Meeting is coming up before we know it on April 3-5 2020. There will be a Pre Staff Meeting for Officers of the Department at 2000 on April 3, 2020. You will be notified where the meeting will be held at a later date. You are currently able to make reservations at the Oxford Suites in Yakima Wa.

The Unit Citation and Marine of the Year applications have been sent by the Adjutant Randy Ott to all detachments. There is also a link on the https://www.mcldeptwa.org website. The Unit Citation is in the drop down box under the heading Detachments and the Marine of the Year is under Committees.

Be careful to follow the instructions on the Marine of the Year we have had disqualifications in most years due to not following the directions.

The Commandant’s and Committee reports should reach the Adjutant by electronic form by March 15, 2020 to give him a chance to get the agenda completed in time for the meeting.

Thank you all for your diligence to get the PLM’s completed on time. We achieved a 100 percent participation in 2019. Now that they are all updated it will be much easier for you to work with the PLM in future years.

I have visited all the detachments and you all are doing a great job!! Keep up the great work. You will be sending your Toys for Tots reports to Louanne Harrey louanneharrey56@gmail.com this year as she took over this committee at Fall Staff.

All pounds with the exception of Spokane will be visited this year by Spring Staff Meeting. More on this at the Pack Growl at Spring Staff.

See you at Spring Staff

About The Marine Corps League

The Marine Corps League is the only Congressionally chartered United States Marine Corps-related veterans organization in the United States. Its Congressional Charter was approved by the 75th U.S. Congress and signed by President Franklin D. Roosevelt on August 4, 1937.

Members of the Marine Corps League join together in camaraderie and fellowship for the purpose of preserving the traditions and promoting the interests of the United States Marine Corps, banding together those who are now serving in the United States Marine Corps and those who have been honorably discharged from that service that they may effectively promote the ideals of American freedom and democracy, voluntarily aiding and rendering assistance to all Marines and former Marines and to their widows and orphans; and to perpetuate the history of the United States Marine Corps and by fitting acts to observe the anniversaries of historical occasions of particular interest to Marines.

The Department of Washington was founded in Seattle nearly 70 years ago and has grown to 15  detachments throughout the state.
